About the Book Series
Materials underpin almost every cutting-edge technology and are central to meeting the defining challenges of our time. The discovery and design of new materials, and the optimisation of their production, manufacture, use, recovery, and recirculation, are more important than ever – as is reducing the environmental and societal impacts associated with linear pathways of extraction, consumption, and disposal. Meeting these aims requires a full understanding of materials' properties, applications, and alternatives.
The IOM3 Publications Series is a book publishing partnership between the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and Taylor & Francis. The series seeks works on a broad range of topics relevant to materials, minerals and mining science and engineering in the 21st century, as societies around the world evolve to meet the universal challenges of awareness, sustainability, adaptability, and responsible use. Experts from industry, research institutes, and academia are invited to submit proposals – particularly those offering commentary on, or solutions to, contemporary societal issues such as energy, the environment, and healthcare, as well as emerging topics in automation, AI and machine learning.
