The Psychoanalytic Clinical Research Book Series
About the Book Series
Psychoanalytic clinical research, although part of the original psychoanalytic ‘project’, became less of a central focus for clinicians through the 20th Century, enduring much criticism and lack of clarity in relation to methodologies and findings. Since the 1980’s other therapeutic modalities such as CBT have made clinical research their central tenant, whilst psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and analytical psychology therapeutic modes of working have re-visited philosophical, scientific, hermeneutic and methodological thinking on clinical research. Very important clinical research has been taking place on working with child, adolescent, and adult patients whilst clinical research methodologies have been in development. Clinical trainings now include research components or are research doctorates whilst post qualifying Professional Doctorate programmes also provide space for practicing clinicians to do important clinical research in the field. ‘The Psychoanalytic Clinic Research Book series’ is a ‘home’ for all aspect of this developing clinical research. It includes books which are monographs of individual clinical research projects including detailed descriptions of methodologies used, clear examples of findings, discussion of their application and their research contributions in the field. It also includes collective books on methodological and research topic areas of enquiry in the clinic, many unresearched until now: invaluable resources for all clinicians and clinical trainees, forwarding psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and analytical psychology thinking and practice. ‘The Psychoanalytic Clinical Research Book series’ will be edited by Deborah L. S. Wright and, for some books, Deborah will have ‘Guest Co-series Editors’ who are specialists in the field of that book, whether that be in relation to the clinical research methodology employed or it’s subject area.
